Espacios de memoria colectiva LGBTIQ+ en Cuenca, Ecuador (1996-2014)

Abstract

This research focuses on identifying and documenting the key places for the history and resistance of the LGBTIQ+ population in the city of Cuenca. To approach the study, a qualitative methodology with an explanatory scope is employed. The aim is to explore how these spaces were perceived from 1996 to 2014 through analysis and talking maps, drawing on personal and collective narratives in quest of recognition. This research is grounded in the theoretical frameworks of emotional geography and cultural history. It examines the importance of these spaces as meeting points, social hubs, visibility platforms, and sites of resistance within a city that has experienced significant social transformations in recent years.
