Aplicación de software matemático DERIVE, para el logro de aprendizajes en aplicaciones del cálculo diferencial e integral, en estudiantes universitarios

Abstract

The learning of Mathematics in a significant level becomes a very difficult task for teachers in an educational institution, and more so at the higher level, since here the teacher must face with empty of minimum or previous knowledge, which they are of a current due to different factors, that make the student becomes complex the study of the exact sciences. The objective was to promote the learning of Differential Calculus and Integral Calculus by means of the study of the applications of the derivative and the integral using mathematical software with the tools DERIVE, GEOGEBRA and Wolfram Alpha, in order that they can solve problems related to their professional training and field of labor action. The present investigation is of quantitative type at associative level with a brief qualitative phase; To support the study, a comparative statistical analysis of the academic achievement history was carried out to five courses in three years (2013-2015), during their progress in the first three semesters, and with a focus group of students, information was collected about the Problems and obstacles to the learning of Mathematics. Participants in the research process, who were given a pre and post-test, once the intervention was applied, were able to independently approve the subject of Differential Equations by applying mathematical software, working with updated bibliography, being trained by means of tutorials based on scientific articles, that allowed to reach a superior level of sufficiency in the students were integrated into the intervention phase.
