Música popular urbana: heavy metal y rap en Cuenca-Ecuador entre 2000-2015. Escenas desde la región

Abstract

The humankind’s relationships as producer of senses established with the geocultural environment that identifies as own, allows todelimit scenarios with characteristic marks from which it is created and diffused region images from the definition of a particular declarative locus (Molina y Varela, 2018). So, the category of region operative analysis (Heredia, 2007) allows to established the córpora of data about popular urban music: heavy metal and rap collected in Cuenca-Ecuador, between 2000-2005. Text about heavy metal and rap were forged in the same geocultural region, arranged around four variants: georeferentially, the musical genre, the ways of spreading of the popular music pieces produced by these bands and the core topics worked by them in their musical texts-speeches. 58 ballots were registered, through the strategy, survey, which contains thirteen central closed questions, and one open question. 50 band from the heavy metal and rap genre were identified; and eight of them came from solo musicians. This information was collected from places frequented by the members of these bands: concerts, bars, public presentations and contact references. The investigation shows that heavy metal and rap produced in Cuenca as a geocultural region constitute particular scenes of enunciation and practices that are activated from the region of Cuenca, with their own specific signs and senses that realize of a particular esthetic and musical task.
