Mujer, naturaleza y devenir-animal en Trajiste contigo el viento (2022) de Natalia García Freire

Abstract

Latin American narrative in different periods of time has been characterized by its novel themes inspired by the problems of the territory. Currently, one of these literary compositions that have attracted attention is the so-called “Andean Gothic”, a category inherited from the traditional Gothic and characterized by exposing, through female voices, the fear and violence of the place. In this sense, being a new subgenre, there is no further research, so this paper aims to analyze the elements that characterize the Andean Gothic, particularly the presence of women, nature, and the becoming-animal in Natalia García Freire's Trajiste contigo el viento (2022). Thus, this project will become a significant contribution to the research of the recent subgenre and will allow for a wider dissemination of contemporary women's writing as the leading voices of a new literary moment. The methodology employed for this purpose is the hermeneutics of Ricoeur (1995). For its part, the theoretical corpus is sustained from the categories of “the Andean Gothic”, by Álvaro Alemán (2017); and, the “becoming-animal”, by Deleuze & Guattari (1980) and Giorgi (2012).
