| Abstract: | This thesis aims to analyze, through hermeneutics, the emblematic novel Río de sombras
(2003) by the Ecuadorian author Jorge Velasco Mackenzie, who unexpectedly passed away
on September 24, 2021, in the city of Guayaquil, leaving an enormous legacy to Ecuadorian
and Latin American literature. To begin this work, the hypothesis has been proposed that in
this narrative, both a physical journey and a spiritual journey occur, through which the
cartography of Guayaquil, the physiology of its inhabitants, and the unconscious of the city
are revealed. Thus, through the use of the following bibliography specialized in the theme of
aesthetic walking: Walking (1817) by Henry David Thoreau, The Walk (1917) by Robert
Walser, The Practice of Everyday Life (1990) by Michel de Certeau, Walkscapes: Walking as
an Aesthetic Practice (2002) by Francesco Careri, The Arcades Project (2012) by Walter
Benjamin, Walkers (2019) by Edgardo Scott; it has been proven that these journeys indeed
materialize through the traverses in the public and natural spaces of the city made by two
types of walkers: the "pievagante" and the "imaginante". The hermeneutic analysis was carried
out with the postulates of Time and Narrative I (1983) by Paul Ricoeur and his theory of triple
mimesis. This research is expected to contribute to the critical studies of Ecuadorian literature. |
| Resumen : | Esta tesis tiene como objetivo analizar a través de la hermenéutica la novela Río de sombras
(2003), del autor ecuatoriano Jorge Velasco Mackenzie, quien falleció inesperadamente el 24
de septiembre de 2021 en la ciudad de Guayaquil, dejando un enorme legado a la literatura
ecuatoriana y latinoamericana. Para iniciar este trabajo se ha planteado la hipótesis de que
en esta narrativa se produce un viaje físico y un viaje espiritual, a través de los cuales se
develan la cartografía de Guayaquil, la fisiología de sus habitantes y el inconsciente de la
ciudad. Es así que, mediante el uso de la siguiente bibliografía especializada en el tema de
la caminata estética: Caminar (1817), de Henry David Thoreau, El paseo, (1917) de Robert
Walser, La invención de lo cotidiano (1990), de Michel de Certeau, El andar como práctica
estética (2002), de Francesco Careri, El París de Baudelaire (2012), de Walter Benjamin,
Caminantes (2019) de Edgardo Scott; se ha comprobado que, efectivamente, dichos
desplazamientos se materializan por medio de las travesías en el espacio público y natural
de la ciudad que hacen dos tipos de andantes: el pievagante y el imaginante. El análisis
hermenéutico se realizó con los postulados de Tiempo y narración I (1983), de Paul Ricoeur
y su teoría de la triple mimesis. Con esta investigación se espera contribuir a los estudios
críticos de la literatura ecuatoriana. |
