| Abstract: | The Labrado-Tuñi canal transports water for power generation at the Machángara
hydroelectric complex, owned by ELECAUSTRO. Historically, there have been episodes of
instability of the nearby slopes, which have reduced the flow transported and decreased the
efficiency of energy production. The objective of this study is to elaborate maps of
susceptibility to landslides in the first section of the canal, between abscissae 0+000 and
3+000, applying the Mora-Vahrson methodology and Analytical Hierarchy. The information
required for the analysis methods was obtained from institutions such as SENAGUA and
ELECAUSTRO, complemented with field visits. Characterization tests were carried out on the
soils and rock massifs present. Soil types SM and GM were determined according to the
SUCS; for the rocky outcrops, a RMR and a SMR class III were determined, i.e., medium
quality rock. A Markland analysis identified that there is no risk of flat failure or Toppling in
them. Prior to obtaining the maps, adaptations were made in the lithological layer, based on
the results of the tests on soils and rock massifs. The maps revealed differences between both
methodologies, being the Analytical Hierarchy more accurate in the zoning of the study area
and in the distribution of the weights of the variables according to their relevance. It was
observed that most of the area has high susceptibility and that slope is the most influential
factor. The susceptibility levels were compared for different rainfall periods. |
| Description: | El canal Labrado-Tuñi transporta agua para la generación eléctrica en el complejo
hidroeléctrico Machángara, propiedad de ELECAUSTRO. Históricamente, se han registrado
episodios de inestabilidad de los taludes cercanos, los cuales han reducido el caudal
transportado y disminuido la eficiencia en la producción energética. Este estudio tiene como
objetivo elaborar mapas de susceptibilidad a movimientos de masa en el primer tramo de la
conducción, entre las abscisas 0+000 y 3+000, aplicando la metodología Mora-Vahrson y la
Jerarquización Analítica. La información, requerida por los métodos de análisis, se obtuvo de
instituciones como SENAGUA y ELECAUSTRO, complementada con visitas de campo. Se
realizó ensayos de caracterización de los suelos y macizos rocosos presentes. Llegando a
suelos tipo SM y GM según la SUCS; para los afloramientos rocosos se determinó un RMR y
un SMR clase III, es decir, roca de calidad media. Un análisis de Markland permitió identificar
que no existe riesgo a falla plana ni Toppling en los mismos. Previo a la obtención de mapas,
se realizó adaptaciones en la capa litológica, basadas en los resultados de los ensayos en
suelos y macizos rocosos. Los mapas revelaron diferencias entre ambas metodologías,
siendo la Jerarquización Analítica más precisa en la zonificación del área de estudio y en la
distribución de los pesos de las variables según su relevancia. Se observó que la mayoría de
la zona presenta una susceptibilidad alta y que la pendiente es el factor más influyente. Se
comparó los niveles de susceptibilidad para diferentes periodos de lluvia. |
