Evaluación de los planes de manejo integral en áreas adjudicadas dentro de bosque y vegetación protectora (MAAE), provincia del Azuay

Abstract

Evaluating Forest and Protective Vegetation Areas awarded by the MAATE gives us a real approach about the conservation and management of these areas of great ecological importance. For this, an evaluation form was developed that allows determining the Progress of Execution of Comprehensive Management Plans (CMP) of 17 farms in the province of Azuay, with indicators adapted to the reality of the study area, based on MAATE evaluation criteria. , experience of the technicians who manage these areas, and the Methodological Guide for the Management of Protected Areas (MAE, 2014), obtaining as a result an average percentage of CMP execution progress of 80%, equivalent to a very satisfactory level of agreement with the table of Interpretation of results of the PANE (2014). The perspective of the awardee regarding the adjudication process and the contribution to socioeconomic development was analyzed through an interview, where 70% of the owners responded that the main benefit was the legalization of their land, 35.3% of owners mentioned that the execution of the projects established in the CMP have contributed to the development of their socioeconomic situation. A rapid analysis of soil quality and crop health was carried out in the area of other uses, using the "Rapid Agroecological Method for the Evaluation of Sustainability" (Altieri & Nicholls 2002), the results obtained indicate that the properties are above the threshold of sustainability. Proposals for improvement are proposed to complement the management of these areas.
