Lectura histórico-crítica y propuesta de restauración del Molino del Santísimo del barrio San Francisco de Oña

Abstract

The vernacular architecture directed to the traditional mills is the point of convergence of culture and history both local and universal, however, despite its importance, in the country there is little or no knowledge of its existence, which has caused the abandonment of many of these goods. The mills in San Felipe de Oña have been a fundamental pillar in the sustenance of the population since pre-Hispanic times, their mechanism was adapting to the needs and natural resources that the canton has. Some of them have disappeared and others are still standing. The Molino del Santísimo (first mill in the canton) has not been the exception of abandonment and oblivion by its inhabitants and authorities, so as a general objective of this study focused on the participatory, historical and patrimonial research of the property as guidelines for the valuation and proposal of reactivation of the mill, with which it is intended to return the vitality to the Barrio San Francisco that has been mid-twentieth century, it entered a process of decline
