Selección de indicadores ambientales para evaluar el desempeño ambiental de las buenas prácticas ambientales En la Universidad de Cuenca y su evaluación financiera

Abstract

Environmental performance indicators offer easy to understand information about the conditions or the response from the environment (Alfsen, et al., 1992); as well as the behavior and organizational performance (García et al., 2019), in order to guarantee an appropriate environmental management. The purpose of this work was to select and estimate environmental indicators for the University of Cuenca, for which the Delphi method was used. These indicators are necessary to document the current state of the institution as well as the processes in which it can establish strategies for improvement that can be used in the future. When calculating the indicators, the results were favorable for the energy and water resource since its efficiency improved by 15.83% and 9% respectively, however, for transportation, gasoline consumption increased in 2018. From these results, strategies were identified for improvement and they were financially evaluated to establish the viability in the project (Liberta, 2007). In addition, alternatives for saving and improving the use of institutional resources were proposed, so that in the future, to obtain the Ecuadorian Environmental Recognition – Green Dot and they belong to the network of environmental Higher Education Institutions at a national and international level.
