| dc.description.abstract | Based on an ethnographic research conducted before, during and after the beauty pageant “Reina de Cuenca” during the years 2016 and 2017, this thesis examines the construction of the concept of beauty surrounding these events. By conducting interviews and engaging in participative observation to explore the evolution of the conceptualization of beauty, this paper: a) describes the production of a beauty queen, B) the relation that exists between religion and morals along with social class, as well as gender and race in the construction of the beauty queen and its significance for the elites of the city. | es_ES |
