Riesgo toxicológico por estrés oxidativo en deportistas de alto nivel de la ciudad de Cuenca

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine if the concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) represents an ideal marker of oxidative stress, in addition the concentration of total creatinphosphokinase (CPK-NAC) and total lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) was measured as a marker of muscle wasting. This was a pilot study that was conducted in 30 athletes from the city of Cuenca, 10 high level and 20 athletes were the control group, meaning they train regularly but with less intensity. The determination of malondialdehyde was performed by the modified Okawa and Asakawa method which is based on the reaction of MDA with 2-thiobarbituric acid and enzymes by a kinetic method. As results we found that in the three parameters measured there are significant differences p = 0.001 between the high-level group and the control group, the median of the CPK in the high-level group was 337.70 U / L (282.6-669.52) and in the control group 225.25 U / L (107.62-275.27), the median concentration of LDH in the high-level group was 478.80 U / L (359.52-531.92) and in the control group 340.00 U / L (309.57). -384.52). As for malondialdehyde, the concentrations found were 2.93 (0.92-5.65) μM of the control group and 6.92 (5.09-11.34) μM in the high-level group. If it showed significant differences p = 0.0001. Finally, it was considered that the measurement of MDA, CPK and LDH would be a good parameter to associate with oxidative stress in people with high energy demand as high competition athletes.
