Determinantes de la participación femenina en el mercado laboral informal de la ciudad de Cuenca: 2014

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to identify and analyze the factors that influence female participation in the informal labor market in the city of Cuenca 2014. For the purpose of study the relationship between the dependent variable (market share informal) and different conditions as are obvious: the woman's age, marital status (married, single, separated, widowed), years of education, head of household, number of children and income of working women. Two types of model Logit and Multinomial Logit was used The data used for construct the different models variables were collected from the National Survey of Employment, underemployment and unemployment (ENEMDU) by 2014 in the Urban Area of the city of Cuenca. It is found that the variables of head of household and income were significant positive impact on the probability of female participation in Cuenca informal market, however the variables with less impact on the proposed models was the number of children and marital status: separated. Moreover, statistically significant negative relationship variables on the probability of female participation in the informal market cuencano were age, marital status "single" and "widow" and the level of preparation.
