Abstract

The aim of this thesis was to determine the prevalence and risk factors for OA in the hands of people over 50 years of urban areas of Cuenca and set the hand joints most affected. As a method sectional study of prevalence of hand OA and its risk factors in 332 people aged over 50 parishes SAN SEBASTIAN RAMIREZ GIL, SUCRE, AND SAN BLAS MONAY city of Cuenca it was conducted during October 2003 May 2005. As a result prevalence of OA was determined 12.7de hands in the study population, the main risk factor turned out to be older (OR: 2.62, IC951.48-4.63, p = 0.00107).
