Evaluación del riesgo de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en adultos que acuden al Centro Clínico Quirúrgico Ambulatorio Hospital del Día Azogues. Marzo 2023 a noviembre 2023

Abstract

Background: Diabetes type 2 (DM2) is a chronic non-communicable disease of high prevalence and incidence that generates great morbi-mortality worldwide, however it is a mainly preventable pathology, through changes in lifestyle, diet, and exercise. There are several tests to identify the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, one of them is the findrisc test, which evaluates the risk of developing DM2 within 10 years, which will be used in this study population. Objectives: To evaluate the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in the next 10 years in adults attending the Azogues Day Hospital. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study, in adults attending the outpatient, hospitalization or emergency service at the Azogues Day Hospital,with an infinite universe and randomized sample of 338 participants, confidence interval 95% and sampling error 5%, calculated in Epi info version 7.2.5. The FINDRISC test will be applied. The data will be tabulated using IBM SPSS version 29 and Microsoft Excel. Results: Through a descriptive study with 345 participants aged 20-64 years, the FINDRISC test was used, finding that 38.6% have a slightly elevated risk, and 1.7% have a very high risk. Conclusions: The study population was shown to have a slightly elevated risk of developing DM2, being more figurative in the female population
