Prevalencia de vacunación contra VPH y factores asociados a su aceptabilidad en estudiantes de medicina de 9no y 10mo ciclo de la Universidad de Cuenca periodo 2023

Abstract

Background: there are many stigmas about vaccination against the human papillomavirus (HPV), due to this it is essential to educate the population to choose this option consciously in order to prevent future complications such as cases of cervical cancer (CaCU), cancer. oropharyngeal, anus-genital warts, among others. Objective: determine the prevalence of HPV vaccination and factors associated with its acceptability in 9th and 10th cycle medical students at the University of Cuenca during the 2023 period. Method: analytical quantitative study. The final sample was 132 participants. Data were tabulated and analyzed using Excel and SPSS v.24. Central tendency statistics (mean) and dispersion statistics (standard deviation) were used for quantitative variables, while frequency values (n) and percentages (%) were used for qualitative variables. For the association of variables, the statistics will be used: prevalence ratio, chi-square, confidence index and p value. Taking figures less than 0.05 as the statistical relationship value. Results: the sociodemographic distribution corresponds to the bibliography, a vaccination prevalence in women of 25.9% was obtained, the main source of information was the university (72.7%), there is no statistically significant relationship between factors associated with the acceptability of the vaccine. Conclusions: a descriptive study has been carried out that has served to obtain updated information and make recommendations in favor of increasing the HPV vaccination rate. Findings have been made that can be used for future research such as the prevalence of vaccination and the prevalence of compliance with the vaccination schedule.
