Prevalencia de intento de suicidio en pacientes que ingresan en el Centro de Reposo y Adicciones (CRA), Cuenca marzo- julio 2012

Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of attempted suicide in patients admitted to the Centro de Reposo y Adicciones (CRA), Cuenca March - July 2012.- Methods and materials: It is a descriptive quantitative study, which used the survey for collecting personal data and a test "Scale of attempted suicide (Beck et. al)". With the data we use software Epi Info 3.5.3. and Microsoft Excel 2007 to make a database.- Results: We studied to 214 patients and we observed that 61 of them (28.5%) had at least one suicide attempt at some point in their lives. Among the socio-demographic risk factors for attempted suicide group, we found that the average age was 32.63 years (SD: 15.31). It was found that most male had suicide attempt and they had a secondary academic instruction, belonged to the urban sector, most were employed, and 45.90% of them were single. It was noted that there were more suicide attempts in those suffering from mood disorder. The most common method of suicide for men was the use of sharp weapons and for women the use of pesticides and poisons. Finally we analyzed the severity of suicide attempt and we found that 57.38% of patients who attempted suicide had a moderate risk to die.- Conclusions: From the 214 patients of the study, 28.50% had a suicide attempt at some point in their lives.AU
