Diseño de vivienda progresiva de interés social para la ciudad de Cuenca: prototipo incremental flexible

Abstract

Social housing design has been the focus of several reflections over the past few decades, due to its role as one of the main components for urban growth. In an increasingly changing society, it has been urgent the need of design and build decent housing that responds to the challenges of the time; therefore, architecture is searching new technologies to improve its realization. Currently, this type of housing is conceived as a mercantile product that seeks to solve a quantitative deficit and forgets to involve the human factor. Despite the existence and promotion of several public housing projects in the city, there has been a lack of new architectural proposals that contemplate a flexible approach within the design of social housing. In this context, this document presents the process in the search for new strategies for the development of social housing under concepts of adaptability and flexibility in order to make different ways of living possible. The project proposes the use of adaptable strategies through the creation of mobile furniture that allows the fragmentation of the space; in this way, the different spaces of a housing unit could be adapted to the needs and changes of a dynamic society, whose habitable conditions are constantly renewed
