Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de medicina basada en evidencia en médicos del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, Cuenca - 2019

Abstract

Objectives: to determine the knowledge attitudes and practices in evidence-based medicine in doctors of the “José Carrasco Arteaga” Hospital, Cuenca - 2019.

Methods: an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 164 physicians in hospital functions. Prior informed consent was applied form EBPQ-19 validated to Spanish. To determine if there are statistically significant differences between the sociodemographic variables and the subscales of the EBPQ, the Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis test were used, with a level of significance of p <0.05

Results: doctors frequently apply strategies in MBE to solve doubts about knowledge, have a positive attitude towards MBE so they believe it is essential and have a good level of skills research and its application to clinical practice. Significant differences are observed between having the degree of specialist (p = 0.001) when more frequently applying strategies in MBE to approach doubts and a good level of research skills (p = 0.011) in addition, those with more than 5 years of exercise professional (p = 0.025) in knowledge and practices. The male sex obtained a significantly higher result than the female in the MBE practices (p = 0.002)

Conclusions: Most of the doctors in this study present a good level of strategies in MBE to approach doubts regarding clinical knowledge, a positive attitude towards MBE and a good level in the practice of MBE. It is necessary to carry out constant evaluations on the quality and efficiency of the care provided to the patient.
