Prevalencia y factores asociados a miomatosis uterina, en pacientes entre 30 a 50 años, Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, 2017

Abstract

Introduction: Uterine fibroids have a high prevalence of 20-50% in reproductive age, most are asymptomatic; Occasionally, they can cause bleeding, pain and a sensation of pelvic pressure.

Objective: To determine the prevalence and factors associated with uterine myomatosis in patients between 30 and 50 years old that attended the gynecology outpatient clinic of the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital, during the year 2017.

Methodology: A transversal-analytical study was carried out, with 246 patients who attended the gynecology outpatient clinic. Sonography was used for the diagnosis. The data analysis was performed with the SPSS Software version 22. The values of p <0.05 were considered significant, the association was established by the prevalence ratio.

Results: The prevalence of uterine myomatosis was 43.1%, which corresponds to 25.0% of patients aged between 30-35 years, 44.6% between 36-45 years, with a predominance in women over 45 years of age. years (56.7%). When studying the relationship between early menarche, nulliparity, overweight, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, no statistically significant association was found for uterine myomatosis. Among the factors associated with uterine myomatosis is the maternal history of uterine myomatosis (RP 2.19 IC 95%: 1.69-2.83, p = 0.002).

Conclusions: The prevalence of uterine myomatosis is high. Among the factors associated with uterine myomatosis is the maternal history of uterine myomatosis
