Funcionamiento familiar según el modelo circumplejo de Olson en adolescentes hijos de padres migrantes

Abstract

The family, being considered the core of society, has been the focus of study of different disciplines, including the psychology field. The migrant family represents a considerable percentage of the total population in the city of Cuenca - Ecuador, so it is important to understand how it works. Therefore, the current study was conducted in the educative institution city of Cuenca - Ecuador, to determine the Family Function according to the Olson Circumplex Model in migrant parents’ adolescent children. This descriptive research study encompasses a quantitative approach and a data collecting tool, the family adaptability and cohesion evaluation scale, (FACES III) Schmidt (2002), which was administered to a sample of 96 migrant parents’ adolescent children of a local educational institution. This tool eased the description of the objective characteristics of the Family Functioning of migrant parents’ adolescent children, in the areas of family cohesion and adaptability within the 2016-2017 school period. The results show, based on the highest percentages, a cohesion level of 73% that represents the tangled up type, an adaptability level of 44%, that represents the chaotic type, reason why the predominant family type turns out to be the extreme one.
