| Abstract: | Objective. To determine the prevalence of Focal Liver Lesions diagnosed through Tomography on patients from José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital; during the period of January- December 2013.
Methodology. A retrospective descriptive study was performed whose sample was represented by the medical records of patients that attended the Imaging service of “José Carrasco Arteaga" Hospital for an Abdominal CT study, conducted during January - December 2013. The sample size was 1240 patients, this information was tabulated and analyzed, based on the variables age, sex and tomographic findings of different focal liver lesions.
Results. According to radiology reports, data was analyzed and the following results were obtained: 726 patients (58.5 %) presented Focal Liver Lesions, of these 50.6 % were female. The average age was of > 70 years.
The benign Focal Liver Lesion most prevalent was the liver cyst by 47%; and as for malignant lesions was liver metastasis with 18.9%. The location of the injury occurred mostly in the right lobe.
Conclusions. With this study could determine the prevalence of Focal Liver Lesions diagnosed with Computed Tomography. |
| Description: | Objetivo. Determinar la Prevalencia de Lesiones Focales Hepáticas diagnosticadas mediante Tomografía en pacientes del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga; durante el periodo Enero-Diciembre 2013.
Metodología. Se realizó un estudio Descriptivo Retrospectivo cuya muestra estuvo representada por las historias clínicas de pacientes que acudieron al Servicio de Imagenología del Hospital “José Carrasco Arteaga”, para realizarse un estudio de Tomografía Abdominal, durante Enero – Diciembre 2013; el tamaño muestral fue de 1240 pacientes, esta información fue tabulada y analizada en base a las variables edad, sexo y hallazgos tomográficos de las diferentes lesiones focales hepáticas.
Resultados. Según los informes radiológicos, se analizaron los datos y se obtuvieron los siguientes resultados: 726 pacientes (58.5%) presentaron Lesiones Focales Hepáticas, de estos el 50.6% son de sexo femenino. La edad promedio fue de >70 años.
La Lesión Focal Hepática benigna de mayor prevalencia fue el quiste hepático con un 47%; y en cuanto a lesiones malignas fue la metástasis hepática con el 18.9%. La localización de la lesión se dio mayormente en el lóbulo derecho.
Conclusiones. Con este estudio se pudo determinar la prevalencia de Lesiones Focales Hepáticas diagnosticadas con Tomografía Axial Computarizada. |
