Perfil lipídico en escolares de las parroquias urbanas de la Ciudad de Cuenca-Ecuador 2014

Abstract

Clinical laboratory values concerning lipid profile in 312 pupils from the urban parishes of the city of Cuenca were investigated. It was a descriptive study with a random sample.

As objectives of the investigation the following were presented: Determine the values of total cholesterol, triglyceride levels, cholesterol HDL levels, cholesterol LDL and cholesterol VLDL in the population studied. Relate the results obtained to age, sex, e IMC.

The following results were obtained: 5% of pupils present low weight, 24% average weight, 23% overweight and 48% obesity; 18 to 19% of pupils have high levels of total cholesterol. 21 to 33% present high triglyceride levels 9 to 14% present diminished values of cholesterol HDL. 9% show high values of cholesterol LDT and 4 to 12% high levels of VLDL.

15% of pupils with normal weight, 10% of pupils with overweight and 26% of pupils with obesity present high values of cholesterol total. 4% of children with normal weight, 20% of children with overweight and 43% of children with obesity present high values of triglyceride levels.
